October 2020 - Applications Now Open (spaces are limited)
What: YMCA Canberra Space Squad is Australia's only residential holiday camp program for students in Years 6-9 (or equivalent) who are interested in Space!
Over five action packed days our campers will be immersed in Space and the Space Industry, learn all about space exploration and science, as well as meet engineers, astronomers, astrophysicists and scientists who work on space missions.
During the camp, they visit and experience the Advanced Instrument and Technology Centre (AITC) at Mt Stromlo and touch satellites, look at dwarf galaxies orbiting around Centaurs A, hear about how stars collide and the first ripples in space which are known as gravitational waves. We will also visit the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex and Questacon, as well as experience virtual reality, astronomy, rover building, coding, rocketry and much more.
Note: Our camp venues may differ or change last minute due to Government and business social distancing restrictions in regards to COVID-19.
There are so many incredible opportunities, experiences and adventures to be had when you join us on the next YMCA Canberra Space Squad.
